Sheet masks are hot right now, but what exactly are they and how do you use them? Our short guide will tell you everything you need to know.

What is a sheet mask?

A piece of lightweight face-shaped fabric that is saturated in a concentrated serum/liquid formula. The masks are all one size, but not every face is the same size or shape, so expect to get a little messy!

How do I apply a sheet mask?

First up, make sure you have a freshly-cleansed face before you remove the mask from its packaging. To apply, start at your forehead and line up with your eyes to avoid air bubbles then pat down over your cheeks and continue to smooth out towards your chin.  Sheet masks don’t always stay on if you are sat upright, so use the time to lay back and relax.

Do I need to wash off the residue afterwards?

Once the mask has been left on for the recommended time and removed, simply rub the rest of the serum into the skin. There’s no need to rinse (otherwise you will be removing all of the goodness!) and you can finish your usual day or night cream if more hydration is desired.

Can a sheet mask replace my usual face mask?

The best time to use sheet mask is when you want to hydrate or brighten your skin before an event or special occasion as they are more of a ‘quick-fix’ method and can be used more regularly. Your usual face mask can and should still be used once per week if you want more clarifying or exfoliating benefits as they are more ideal for long lasting results and removing buildup.
