The LED Mask Facial Treatment that Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba and Chrissy Teigen absolutely love is one to try if you have redness, acne, hyper-pigmentation and congested skin

The Treatment: Hydrafacial and Dr. Rita’s LED facial treatment mask

Where? Willow Stream Spa, Fairmont The Palm Dubai

Why try it? The LED Mask is used in combination with the specialist Hydrafacial and the treatment gives the skin a deep cleanse, infusing vital ingredients deeply into the skin. This mask is ideal for any skin type as it works on all potential skin conditions and is safe to use. The mask can be used for only 20 minutes as a stand alone treatment so it is ideal for those who don’t have much time, but would like to look their best and work on their own skin concerns. “The LED mask supports this process by improving common problematic skin conditions such as fine lines, sensitivity, break outs and congestion. There are several treatment modes – your therapist will select the mode based on your skin’s condition. Mode options include: Brightening, Anti-Ageing, Purifying, Post Procedure, Calming, Detoxifying,” says Laura Brown, Spa Manager at Willow Stream Spa.

When should you do this treatment? It’s quite popular with celebrities such as the Kardashians, Kate Hudson and Madonna and Laura highly recommends doing this treatment 1-2 days before a special event to get a deep cleanse and best results. That said, on the day of your event, the mask can be used alone (without the hydrafacial) to give you a radiant glow.

Tried & Tested review: I love hydra facials. They literally suck out all the gunk from your pores, extract blackheads and whiteheads and any pesky little unwanted things that poke out of your skin. My skin has been looking a bit dull lately, so I booked in a facial to try Dr. Rita’s LED facial treatment mask. I needed a bit of deep cleansing and extraction, so the therapist gave me a lymphatic drainage massage and hydrafacial before commencing with the brightly-coloured mask. Lymphatic drainage effectively reduces puffiness from the under eye area, sculpts your jawline and speeds up the removal of toxins. You can always tell if a person requires a lymphatic massage if their face is puffy, they have dark circles, and suffer from sinus congestion. The lymphatic drainage facial involves a lymph-specific massage that moves from the centre of your face to under your chin, near your clavicle, or behind your ears, where your lymph nodes are located. The facial revitalises your skin health on a deep level, helping your immune system too.

Once done, the hydrafacial begins, to tackle everything from fine lines and wrinkles to skin texture, elasticity, tone, congestion, pigmentation and enlarged pores. It starts with a gentle face scrub, followed by a suction pipe that literally pulls out all the gunk from your skin – it’s quite a relaxing feeling as the therapist moves upwards from your neck to your cheeks and forehead tugging your skin slightly. A serum is applied to target pigmentation and congestion on the T-zone and chin, after which the extraction takes place. This time around, it’s with a stronger suction pipe and I can feel every blackhead being pulled out – gross, but the results are incredible. Once done, the therapist uses the removal tool to extract anything too deep. Skin is cleansed with a warm towel, followed by serum and then the ultra-cool, celebrity-loved LED facial mask is placed on.

My therapist used the the yellow setting of the mask for ten minutes, to activate toxin elimination, improve decongestion and stimulate lymphodyte production. This was followed by the green mask to regulate melanin production, reduce pigmentation and redness. The results are instant. Once serums, eye cream and lip balm are applied on, skin looks hydrated, cleansed – take a look at your nose after – and radiant.
