Who doesn’t love a spa treatment? We visited the newly opened Tips & Toes at The Springs Souk to try a traditional Balinese Massage

What is a Balinese Massage?

It’s a full-body, deep-tissue treatment that combines gentle stretches, acupressure, reflexology, and aromatherapy to stimulate the blood-and oxygen-circulation, alleviate strained muscles and joint pain and of course let your mind and body relax. At Tips & Toes, it’s 50-minutes of pure bliss.

The verdict

The massage is ideal for those looking for a full head-to-toe treatment and anyone constantly on the go. The technique includes gentle and relaxing strokes, stretches and pressure-point stimulation with chamomile oil – boasts anti-inflammatory properties while relieving stress. The areas massaged include the full body, head, face and even the abdomen, which isn’t common with some of the other types, and something I actually enjoy as it helps improve circulation.

I have tried a Balinese Massage in the past, however the therapist used techniques that I haven’t experienced before, which was quite interesting. The combination of gentle stretches, skin rolling, kneading and stroking activates blood flow, lymph nodes and energy, making this treatment extremely relaxing. Normally after a massage, I’m left feeling sore, with the odd ache and pain in some parts of my body. After this, I left the spa feeling incredibly relaxed that I couldn’t wait to get home and hit the sack – and what an amazing sleep I had.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, some of the ladies even remembered me by name from another Tips & Toes branch I previously visited. My therapist was absolutely lovely too, and I was glad she used the pressure I wanted, really stretching my body while relieving the knots.
