Pastels Salon assisted with the backstage styling for the Dior Haute Couture Show, which took place at Fashion Avenue in Dubai Mall. Here, Natalie Kasses, the salon’s Creative Director who was at the helm, offers her take on the trends that are expected for SS2019
In your opinion, the best and worst hair trends of 2019?
This season for me it’s all about organic, natural hair. The best hairstyles at the moment are those that appear to be lived-in and which have a lot of texture. This trend has evolved from the beach-inspired styles that have proved popular over the past few years. This means that, for now, structured styles are far down on fashion’s radar and it’s all about embracing your natural hair.
Anything you wish to see more of when it comes to hair?
Colour-wise, I would like to see people embrace softer tones. It is all about muted colours – think peachy and beigey blondes, which embody this trend. Nothing raw or bright in terms of colour will be prevalent this season; rather it will be all about the presence of shimmer in the colour. Length-wise I am enjoying the mid-length shaggy bobs that seem to be everywhere at the moment, as well as the 80’s-style lived-in Rock Chick look that is defined by fringes and curls.
Haircare and styling tips for women living in the Middle East
For anyone living in this region, frizz can be a big concern, especially given the humidity that the impending summer brings. For this reason, I love the Dyson Supersonic, as well as the Liss Control collection from L’Oreal’s Tecni Art range. To channel this season’s fondness for texture, be sure to invest in a texturizing spray such as LO’real’s Tecni Art Wild Stylers Beach Waves spray, which is unrivalled.
