La Loge has opened its’ doors at The Mandarin Oriental Dubai, and it’s the most gorgeous neighbourhood salon to get a hair makeover at
I visited the French-inspired beauty lounge, La Loge, on a sunny afternoon and was immediately ushered to the hair station complete with tall mirrors – that allow you to peek at your hair from all angles – sleek wooden finishes and comfortable leather chairs where you can sit back and leave your mane in the hands of the experts.
Senior Hair Stylish Elie took one look at my hair and decided he’d give me layers, to frame my face, and make it less heavy for summer by chopping off bits in between. I casually mentioned that I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a fringe for years, but because I have a small forehead, most hair stylists talk me out of it. It was quite the contrary with Elie, who confidently said “If you want to do it, let’s go for it.” Just like that, in a split second, I made the spontaneous decision of getting a fringe – one I had been contemplating for years.
Elie probably noticed my excitement and nervousness as I casually sipped on my coffee. After washing my hair and getting an incredible head massage, it was combed, sectioned and cut. I had grown it out for months, so to see big chunks of hair falling off almost got me teary-eyed, but they were all dead split ends and Elie did mention it would make my hair grow out healthier. Once the length was shortened, Elie took to my fringe with precision, cutting it to frame my face, while making it less thick and bulky on my forehead.
After a quick application of serums and sprays that made my locks glossy and bouncy, he blow-dried the fringe carefully, giving me tips on how to do it like a pro, at home. I left with my hair feeling light and bouncy. And the best part, no one recognised me after as the fringe altered my look drastically. Definitely the ultimate hair makeover!
