Dr Kayle answers a botox query

If I get Botox injections every couple of months, will facial muscles begin to lose the ability to frown?

No. You may need less Botox over the years, but if you stop having injections, frown lines will return. The habit may be modified if it is difficult for the brain to activate these muscles and gradually habitual frowning may diminish simply through lack of use.

It is important to understand that muscles subjected to Botox don’t forget how to frown, unless they lose their nerve supply altogether. Problems can only happen if the Botox is badly administered. This is why it is crucial to go to a reputable clinic and indeed a plastic surgeon who has spent many years studying facial anatomy and understands how – and where- to inject the Botox for maximum effect with zero chance of negative impacts.
